When storing a closed plastic shampoo or perfume bottle, can any chemical from inside that bottle leak.?

is it possible to smell chemicals in a room with closed plastic containers containing shampoo, perfume, etc. does the plastic contain these products or can the product absorb through the plastic itself? When storing a closed plastic shampoo or perfume bottle, can any chemical from inside that bottle leak.?
Plastic bottles made from polyethylene are permeable to some chemicals esp. organics such as hydrocarbons. Thats why bottles sometimes look like they are sucked in after storage for a while.

Perfumes are usually sold in glass and commerically in aluminium containers. When storing a closed plastic shampoo or perfume bottle, can any chemical from inside that bottle leak.?
No, the product will not leak from the bottle. The plastic is carefully selected to prevent that from happening, since even a small loss through the plastic would result in a large inventory problem with thousands or millions of bottles.

The main problem, however, is not the plastic, it is the lid sealing system. That is the most likely source of leakage and the source of smell in a room.
